Discussion post (goals)
For this month I was told to write about three goals I have for Leia and I in this whole journey. First, I want to talk about my long term goal. Leia has been through a rough time at such a young age. I want her to be able to trust people and be comfortable in all environments. The short term goal, I have for her is to be able to start riding in the next thirty days. Things started off with her being very anxious and that consumed a lot of our time. We started weighing her food and giving her a supplement to balance her hormones and calm her down. Now she is already like a whole new horse. We can saddle her and lunge her. She is still a little sketchy about it but she is making great progress. I have full confidence that I can ride her in the next month. My personal goal is to be more confident in what I am doing. I want to be able to be the boss and not question my own ability. She is definitely more comfortable around me and that helps a lot because if she is more trusting with me then I can focus on working on myself as well as working her. I think all these goals are perfectly manageable and she is going to do great and I am going to learn so much through this whole adventure.
Great goals, Danika. You picked really solid ones for where Leia is at right now. She has already come a long way, and you can tell she is feeling more settled with you. I love the focus on building her trust, getting her ready to ride soon, and also growing your own confidence. You two are on the right track, and I am excited to see how much progress you make this month!
